Taco Cabana's Double Crunch Pizza.
The day before production, the whole thing shifted. Completely new product and tone. While the crew, schedule, and logistics were already locked. Instead of blowing it up, the agency’s creative director, Greg Ring, made a sharp, confident pivot. The original plan was built around something more controlled, more composed, but this new direction called for something looser, more alive.
That pivot ended up being the unlock. We were given just enough guard rails to stay on track, but a ton of freedom inside of that to explore. It became less about executing a rigid plan and more about reacting in real time. We leaned into the spontaneity of the product itself and let that shape the shoot.
A big part of that was getting loose with the snap zooms on the Angénieux Optimo 24-290mm. There’s something about that lens that just invites you to have fun. It gave everything this slightly unpredictable, almost mischievous energy that felt right at home.
We kept it fast and reactive, with real hands, real movement, and ingredients coming together without overthinking it. Nothing over-polished. The imperfections, the speed, the snap of it all is where the flavor lives.
In the end, it feels like the product. Unexpected, a little scrappy, and way more fun because of it.
